Panathlon UK Hull Primary Swimming Gala
The inaugural Hull Active Schools Primary Panathlon Swimming Gala took place at Ennerdale Leisure Centre today. Across the UK, Panathlon gives almost 22,000 young people with disabilities and special needs every year the opportunity to take part in competitive sport and we are delighted that the organisation continues to come to Hull and provide our schools with fantastic experiences.
This was our first time hosting a Panathlon Swimming Gala for primary schools and the event was supported by brilliant young leaders from both Newland School for Girls and Sirius Academy North. The format requires plenty of these young leaders to be in the pool, encouraging and supporting the young swimmers throughout all the events and both sets of students played a huge part in the success of the event.
Congratulations to Rokeby Park Primary School, who clinched the first placed team position. Bricknell Primary School placed 2nd and the Biggin Hill Sharks finished 3rd. More importantly, every child had an enjoyable competitive swimming experience and most were representing their school for the first time.
Thank you again to Howard Nichols and the Panathlon UK team, including their sponsors! The children loved being able to take home their own swimming caps.
