Boccia Championships

The first Hull Active Schools secondary inclusive sport event for 18 months was held on Wednesday 6 October 2021 at Costello Stadium involving 18 boccia teams, 60 students from two schools across five year groups attended.

Competitions were organised in age groups and on the basis of previous playing experiences. In the Key Stage 3 competition, there were two “Develop” championships- blue and red with the emphasis on students learning to play the game and gain an understanding of the rules.

In the Key Stage 3 Red Develop Championships Plus 1, St Mary’s College B were the winners followed by St Mary’s College D and St Mary’s College F. Ganton A won the Key Stage 3 Red Develop Championships Plus 2 with Ganton E in second and Ganton C in third.

In the Key Stage 3 Blue Develop Championships Plus 1, St Mary’s College E were the winners remaining unbeaten for the competition followed by St Mary’s College G, St Mary’s College C and St Mary’s College A. Ganton B won the Key Stage 3 Blue Develop Championships Plus 2 with Ganton D.

Six teams competed in the Key Stage 4 Championships. In the Key Stage 4 Compete Plus 1 Championships, St Mary’s College A beat St Mary’s College B. Ganton B won the Key Stage 4 Compete Plus 2 Championships with Ganton A in second. Finally, Ganton D beat Ganton C in the Key Stage 4 Develop Plus 2 Championships
