This is a course with some practical elements so please dress suitably and wear appropriate footwear.
Hot and cold drinks will be provided but unfortunately the centre does not offer catering so you will need to provide your own lunch.
There is free parking available on site. If you have not been to the site before it is near the entrance for Cave Castle but the opposite side of the road. The Leisure Centre is situated behind the Primary School and to access it you drive up the slope and pretty much keep going until you reach the top. The centre will be on your right hand side.

Tennis - LTA Youth Schools Teacher Training
LTA Youth Teacher Training
LTA Teacher Training is a 2-hour training course for primary and secondary teachers and teaching assistants, which has been developed by teachers to help you deliver high-quality PE lessons with confidence. The focus is on movement skills and physical literacy, as well as personal development and character education.
Every teacher attending the course will receive a free pack including:
An activity book with a range of ideas for warm-ups, activities and games
Pupil achievement certificates and stickers.
Teachers attending the course will receive a £250 voucher (limited to one per school) to spend on 10 hours club link support from a local LTA Accredited Coach.

Chance to Shine Teacher CPD

Our 'Lead' section provides CPD opportunities for teachers, as well as leadership training for young people. These include: - Teacher CPD: a set of 6 modules which can be delivered by Chance to Shine tutors to teachers interested in developing their own skills. The course takes the I/We/You approach to developing teacher confidence. - UKS2 Playground Leaders – Modular based course for 9-11 year olds to help them develop leadership skills. They will learn how to make cricket skills fun for a Key Stage 1 group. The course will help Year 6 pupils develop transferable skills and become ready for secondary school.

Bespoke - Curriculum PE Support application
As part of the 2022/23 membership package with Hull Active Schools primary schools have the opportunity to access bespoke, targeted support from our PE specialist partner, Owen Denovan, from Primary Steps in PE. We are committed to raising the level of teacher confidence in PE and therefore want to provide support for schools who demonstrate a commitment to sustainable PE and effective PE teaching.
As a partnership we have a limited amount of availability and in order to maximise the impact of your support we are opening an application window for support. Our member primary schools can apply through this expression of interest form to access this extra support in order to have maximum impact and this form must be returned before 30th September 2022.

A practical course based in a school classroom to explore innovative ideas and activities to support schools to make classrooms ‘active spaces’. Cross curricular ideas and resources for everyday use. We will also look at how to create active spaces in your school and methods on how to make day to day school activities more conducive for physical activity.
Who should attend? This course is suitable for all qualified teachers. Ideally, a member of your leadership team should attend to be in a position to embed any ideas across the whole school.

Special Schools Gymnastics
Tutor: Johanna Billingsley (West Hull Gymnastics)
The course will focus on the delivery of Gymnastics in Special Schools. Although the workshop is mostly designed to support schools successfully prepare students for our KS2 Gymnastics competition, teachers will benefit from the information, example routines and advice about individual skills progressions to enhance curricular PE lessons.

Active Maths 2

The course aims to put maths into an active, practical context focusing on number, addition and multiplication. Delegates will be doing some activities based around interpreting and recording data, measurement and problem solving for Foundation up to upper KS2.
The day will be based around a range of sporting concepts allowing teachers to see sport as an opportunity for children to apply knowledge in a physical way. We will also look at how to create active spaces in your school and how to make your classroom an active environment.
Who should attend? This course is appropriate for all qualified teachers. Ideally, your numeracy lead should attend to then disseminate content across your school. You are welcome to send more than one staff member.

The course will focus on the delivery of the Key Steps Gymnastics. A one day practical course that uses the context of PE and sport alongside practical learning approaches to support the teaching of English across the school. During the course we will look at how to use physical activity in the teaching of phonics, SPAG and will provide ideas so that teachers can use sport to inspire high quality writing from Foundation up to Year 6. We will also look at how to create active spaces in your school and how to make your classroom an active environment.

This course will give staff a clear structure/template for lessons, and develop their understanding of each element that needs to be included in a dance lesson through examples. Primary Tennis Teacher Training Course
COURSE DETAILS
Based on brand new, innovative content, this 2 hour Primary School Teacher Training Course has been developed by teachers for teachers, to help you deliver outstanding PE lessons with confidence.
As well as teaching fundamental movement skills and physical literacy, tennis is a great way of developing personal and character skills.
Course Content
The course demonstrates how tennis can be delivered to a whole class of children in a small space and how it can be adapted and differentiated for all learners. Activities focus on both improving pupils’ physical and character skills.
Free Resources
Every teacher attending the course receives a free pack of resources including: an activity flipbook, pupil achievement certificates and stickers. The activity flipbook provides a range of ideas for Warm Ups, Body & Ball, Racket & Ball, and Skill Application (Games) exercises.
All teachers also receive free access to our comprehensive range of online resources, including detailed lesson plans (fully mapped to the curriculum, with learning objectives) and a wide range of personal development (character) and cross curricular resources.

Pre-requisites
This course is aimed at both qualified and trainee primary school teachers, as well as teaching assistants who are involved in delivering or supporting physical education in a primary school environment.
